Denmark: DPP says Muslims are racist for sending children to private schools

Alex Ahrendtsen, education spokesperson for the Danish People’s Party (DPP), said Muslim parents who send their children to private schools are ‘little racists’

Ahrendtsen was speaking to TV 2 NEWS, which reported that immigrant children go to private schools more than ethnic Danish children (14% of Danes vs. 15% of immigrant children)

“Arab, Turkish and Somali parents, they stick with their own. They marry their own, and they are not interested in meeting Danes and Danish society, who have reached out to them for 30 years,” Alex Ahrendtsen told TV 2 NEWS.

Newspaper Politiken reported today that the number of children in Muslim private schools increased by 25% over the past three years. Cultural sociologist Christian Horst (Aarhus University) says that it’s mostly the advantaged Muslim parents who reject the regular schools.

He told Politiken that those Muslim parents have gotten to the conclusion that the public schools aren’t good enough and that their children deserve better.

Education minister Christine Antorini (S) doesn’t want to point fingers are parents who prefer a Muslim school for their children.

“I think it’s just as troubling when Danish parents reject public schools. But in relation to immigrant students we have a problem, that we can see, that public school isn’t good enough to start them off professionally,” she told Politiken.

Denmark: Danish People’s Party wants full stop to Muslim immigration

The Danish People’s Party (DPP) wants to put a stop to immigration from Muslim countries, according to a new press release by the party. The party says Muslims don’t integrate and cause big problems with shariah zones, parallel societies and social control.

The announcement followed the release of marriage figures for immigrant groups. According to the new figures, just 20% of non-Western 2nd generation immigrants marry Danes. Among Pakistanis and Turks the figures are less than 10%.

“We must work towards bringing down the immigration from Muslim countries to zero. There can naturally be some exceptions, but there’s a need for political ambition to bring Muslim immigration close to zero,” says the party’s integration spokesperson Martin Henriksen.

“The 24-year old rule is now no longer enough. We have to deal with people who consciously decide to opt out of marrying Danes. It’s problematic. If we are to hope these families will be integrated in the future, we must introduce new and significant restrictions on immigration from Muslim countries,” says Henriksen.

By stopping immigration from Muslim countries, the Danish People’s Party hopes to stop the influx into the parallel societies, and eventually dissolve them.

“It will increase the possibility that young people will be able to break out of the parallel societies,” says Martin Henriksen.

Q: what is the figures are because people fall in love with people they have more in common with?

“Naturally there are those somebody with Turkish background who fall in love with others of Turkish background. But it’s well known that Muslim communities are very skeptical of – and look down on – if, for example, a girl goes out with a Danish boy or man. It can lead to sanctions and we should end that,” says Henriksen.

The DPP wants to stop Muslim immigration by stopping the new government’s rollback of the point system, tightening asylum laws and giving priority to Western labor immigration.

Odense: Burglary campaign against ethnic Danes

Denmark: Millions sent abroad to finance terrorism

Jakob Scharf, head of the Danish Security Service (PET), said Tuesday that terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab get funds from Denmark.

“PET estimates that around 20 million kroner (~$3.5m) are collected every year in Denmark to finance terrorist groups abroad,” he said. This is only an estimation.

In recent years Danish courts handled three cases of terrorism-financing. The cases involved people and associations who supported rebel movements in Colombia and Palestine with an overall sum of less than 150,000 kroner.

PET estimates that the groups who enjoy the Danish millions include groups in conflict zones like Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine and Somalia.

PET says it’s often difficult to prove money transactions are related to terrorism because the terrorist networks use many middlemen. However , PET does say that various people have been stopped at airports on their way to conflict zones with large amounts of money.

Denmark: Former abducted child threatened for acting Danish

When she was 11, Nadia (now 17) had been abducted by her Palestinian father to Lebanon. Her Danish mother had turned to TV 2 for help and she featured on ‘The Abducted Children’ show. While in Lebanon she had been married off and had a child. She came back to Denmark with her husband about a year ago, and now she’s divorced.

She says it’s not easy becoming a normal Danish girl again. She’s had big problems with several things, in particular Arabs who oppose her removing her headscarf.

Nadia had gotten repeated threats after she took off her headscarf and began to look and act like a Danish girl again.

“I’ve gotten threats of beatings because of my piercing, because I go out and because I’ve taken my headscarf off,” says Nadia.

“For example, one time I was at a party, and several young Arabs came there and threatened to beat me. Luckily a friend of mine was there and said ‘just try’, and at the same time a police car came by, so nothing happened.”

Since she’s come home she’s been living in her hometown of Korsør.

Denmark: Kurdish ROJ-TV guilty of supporting terrorism, can continue broadcasting

The Kurdish television station ROJ-TV, which broadcasts from Copenhagen, has been found guilty by a Danish court of supporting the Kurdish separatist organisation PKK and has been fined, but has not had its broadcasting licence impounded.

Copenhagen: Muslims clean up after New Year’s celebrations

The article doesn’t say, but these are Ahmadiyya Muslims. Ahmadiyya Muslims have held similar cleaning operations in Oslo and Amsterdam.

A group of Muslim youth from the Nusrat Djahan mosque in Hvidovre (Copenhagen) volunteered on New Year’s Day to help clean up the night’s celebrations in the city’s central square.

“Our religion teachers us that we should love our country. And if we love our country, we should keep it clean,” says Muhammad Zakaria Khan, chairman of the mosque.

“Additionally, cleanliness if part of our faith. Various texts say that half of our faith is cleanliness. Therefore I sent 35 members of our community to the city to clean up,” he says.

The mosque’s chairman agreed with the municipality to help clean up around the main square, but the youth also managed to reach other places in the city.

“Our faith and religion Islam teaches us that we should respect and be loyal to the country where we live. Therefore in our mosque we do our best to be loyal to the Danish government and to Denmark,” says Muhammad Zakaria Khan. “Therefore we decided to help our city and save some tax money.”

He says it’s not the last time the mosque members will help with cleaning up, and says if the city will be satisfied and ask them to do it again, they’ll do so every year.

Denmark: ‘Christmas isn’t dangerous’, says Muslim politician

Kurdish-Turkish Serdal Benli celebrates Christmas and says schools shouldn’t censor Christmas so as not to insult some students.

“Christmas is a beautiful and harmless tradition. Christmas isn’t dangerous. Muslims recognize Jesus as a prophet too and the curious practice, some school choose here, is a big misunderstanding in the name of holy tolerance.”

Serdal Benli has Kurdish roots and was born in Turkey. He came to Denmark when he was four.

The Muslim man is also chairman of the Employment and Integration committee in Gladsaxe, and a MP candidate for SF.

Serdal Benli deeply disagrees with the schools’ approach. He sings all the verses in ‘A Child is Born in Bethlehem’, and likes Danish and Christian Christmas traditions.

“Christmas was a big prize for me throughout my childhood in this country. To come to church and experience Christmas, learn about Christianity and hymns, and the differences between religions is a positive thing, and I’m appalled by the signal that people are sending to these children by censoring away our differences.

He thinks that schools who take immigrant children into consideration are benefiting neither integration nor diversity.

“The children should learn of Christian, Jewish, Muslim and other traditions, instead of people sending negative and wrong signals to the children, which increase the differences.

Serdal Benli (32), celebrates a type of Christmas with his 28 year old wife, who’s origins are from Turkey, but was born in Denmark.

“On Christmas even we meet, like so many others, make candy and good food – preferably duck or something else delicious. And we give each other gifts,” says Serdal Benli,who also decorates for Christmas with pine and Christmas lights.

This year he didn’t buy a tree. “We’ve done some of that when my nephews and nieces, who love Christmas, were here. Children are naturally curious, and it’s wrong to keep them away from each other’s holidays, instead of recognizing the differences and celebrating each other’s traditions. I basically believe that knowledge of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and other religious equips children to engage in diversity. I don’t understand the fear of contact at these schools. It’s not dangerous. It’s important we learn of each other and have the opportunity for it.

Denmark: Muslim politician to join Washington think tank

Denmark’s first immigrant MP is leaving politics to work for the Washington, DC-based think tankHudson Institute.

The Konservative politician Naser Khader used his Facebook page on Sunday to announce that he was quitting Danish politics.

“I’ll be travelling around the Arab world conducting research on freedom of expression and the growth of democracy. It will also have to do with the consequences of the Arab Spring,” Khader wrote, adding that he would continue to live in Denmark, while commuting to Washington and the Middle East.

Denmark: Minister working on solution for underage marriages

Last yer Copenhagen reported a man to the police for conducting an Islamic marriage for a 14-year old Danish girl behind her parents back. But nothing happened and the authorities were criticized for leaving the young girls and their families to their fate. The Minister of Social Affairs now formed a working group to look into the issue and see how the young girls can be helped.

Lisbeth Zornig Andersen, head of the Children’s Council, told the Berlingske newspaper that apparently nobody protects the interests of these girls, and that political action is needed.

Karen Hækkerup (S), minister of social affairs: “There is no bulwark to protect these girls. Even if the ceremonies are not legally valid, I recognize that it’s an extremely social problem.”

One option is to establish a special contact point where parents and young girls, who are asked for marriage, can get help. Berlingske reports that the working group expects to deliver its proposal and conclusions in March.
