The Prophet’s Prescribed Antidote for Housework Fatigue: Remembrance of Allah! 0

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم Seldom is it that anyone looks forward to tackling a sink-full of dirty utensils, a hamper load of laundry, a sprawling lawn overflowing with tall grass, or a wall-to-wall carpeted house waiting to be vacuumed.

The Messenger Was Born 0

Share By Abu Eesa Niamatullah (Cross-posted from AE’s personal blog) At a time when many Muslims will be debating the definitions of bid‘ah and the condemnation of people based upon whether they don’t celebrate the ‘Eed Milād’l-Nabi or do, where some will find excuse to mix and party and others will find reason to have a quiet reflective moment, perhaps it would be pertinent to remind ourselves exactly what this debate is all really about. The blessed Prophet and Messenger Sayyidina Muhammad (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was understood to have been born in the early half of the current month Rabī’l-Awwal in the year 570 or 571 CE. Broken Bowls and Flowing Tears: Prophet Muhammad [صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم] as Husband Extraordinaire! 0

Bismillah Recently, the global Muslim blogosphere went on the usual defensive, as news of a “Muslim” media professional beheading his wife in a murderous rage did the rounds of all major news websites. Once more, allegations of Islam being a religion of barbarians and terrorists were allayed and refuted by Muslims, at times successfully, but at other times, perhaps a bit in vain. We must realize that deducing the doctrine of a religion by looking at random contemporary examples is a mistake in itself

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 In our previous two articles, we had discussed the date of the birth of the Prophet, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam , and demonstrated that there are over half a dozen opinions, the strongest being that he was born on the 8 th of Rabīʻ al-Awwal, in the Year of the Elephant. We also mentioned that the first recorded instance of a public celebration of the mawlid occurred in Shi’ite Fatimid Egypt, around the turn of the sixth century of the hijra

The Birth-Date of the Prophet and the History of the Mawlid – Part II of III 0

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 It is unanimously agreed upon, by historians, legal specialists and theologians of all groups, that the Prophet salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam himself never commanded his followers to celebrate his birthday, nor was this practice known for the first few centuries of Islam. Therefore, the question arises as to how this practice was instituted and who were the first group to think of the idea of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam
